About the Walker Zero Turn Mowers Design

1) The Original Design

Walker Mowers were designed to meet a need, not to fill a market. No focus groups or market surveys were conducted. Simply put, these commercial lawn mowers are built to mow landscaped properties efficiently while leaving a gentle footprint and beautifully cut turf behind. This is what we do here at Walker; this is what our people pour their lives into; this is what we are known for in the power equipment industry. This is the Original Zero Turn Mowers Design.

2) The Zero Turn Mowers Anatomy

For a zero turn mower to excel at its work, its design has to be right from the start, or it will be easily lost in the wide array of commercial mowers that deliver only marginal results. The designer’s platform must consist of discipline, ingenuity and no compromises. Each Walker Mower model has been built from the inside out to achieve a balance of durability and performance.

These rugged machines are built for the rigors of daily commercial operation and designed to mow virtually any property- places with rolling contours, tight corners and open spaces. Walker Mowers are not just assembled–they’re engineered. Every detail has been proven in the field. Every design element has been tested and refined. As a result, each mower is reliable, tuned to perfection and manufactured to give top performance.

3) Accessibility

It is an unavoidable fact that commercial lawn mowers needs routine maintenance like blade sharpening, oil and belt changes. The fact that the Walker Mower provides quick, easy access to these serviceable parts is by design, not by accident. Our mowers were designed and built to be easy to maintain.

Clam-shell and tilt-up bodies quickly expose the engine and drive train, while tilt-up mower decks make blade maintenance and deck cleaning a quick and easy task.

Zero turn mower owners are serious about being efficient on the lawn, and Walker’s ‘there-by-design accessibility’ allows that kind of efficiency for mower maintenance as well.

4) Grass Handling

In today’s Outdoor Power Equipment Industry, one machine stands out front of the others for its performance in vacuuming grass clippings, leaves, sticks and lawn debris – the Walker Grass Handling System (GHS). One look at the Walker GHS, and it’s easy to see that handling grass is at the heart of this design and not an afterthought. The integrated grass handling system lends itself nicely to the compact design of the Walker with no bulky hoses or tubes sticking out. Even for those areas where grass clippings are not collected on a year-round basis, the seasonal use of the GHS mower for spring and autumn clean up is an important feature.

Customers around the world who require a manicured look in high visibility areas have relied on the Walker GHS as a reliable time-proven asset for thirty years.

About Walker Commercial Lawn Mowers

1) Beautiful Cut

A passion of ours at Walker Mowers is a beautiful cut on finished turf. Striping is done naturally without the use of a roller wheel, and the clean cut is achieved by design, not by gimmick.

Among zero turn mowers, the Walker out front deck is one-of-a-kind because the deck is truly independent of the tractor. With true deck suspension, it floats and flexes over the turf and easily follows ground contours. The result? Less scalping and a clean, manicured finish. Because the weight of the deck is transferred to the drive wheels, there is less surface pressure on the deck caster wheels, which means reduced impact on the turf – producing a beautifully striped lawn.

In the crowded commercial lawn mower market, one of the things that sets the Walker Mower apart is its Beautiful Cut.

2) Versatile

Walker’s out front design lends itself nicely to the use of a variety of attachments, keeping the tractor busy all year long. The Walker is on the job, getting work done through summer, fall, winter and spring. Walker Mowers can be adapted in just minutes to multiple grounds maintenance uses with front mounted attachments and implements.

The out front design also makes it easy to switch between Walker’s nine different decks, which vary in size and configuration. Included are decks for grass handling, side discharge and mulching.

Turf equipment is a serious investment and should work for you year-round. The versatile Walker Mower meets this demand for a wide variety of customers, including commercial lawn mowing companies.

3) Agile

In the real world of mowing landscaped properties, there are irregular shapes, small spaces and areas that must be closely trimmed. The compact Walker fits in places most other commercial mowers can’t, quickly manuevering into each nook and cranny to finish the job in one pass.

With Walker’s unique combination of Forward Speed Control and steering levers, only gentle fingertip pressure is needed to put the mower through its paces. Forward/reverse, zero radius turns and braking are accomplished by lightly pulling the steering levers while the Forward Speed Control adjusts and holds forward speed. Steering wheels, gear shifts and foot pedals are all eliminated for nearly effortless handling of the machine. There is no other mower this agile and this easy to operate.
