I bought one used and it is terrific on the high grass and weeds. I even used it to cut down bushes and saplings. I highly recommend this machine for tough brush.

Great tips about the often forgotten need for aeration! It is well known that weeds thrive in compacted soils. It must be stressed to customers in new subdivision homes that they don’t have ideal soil conditions as the top soil has been stripped away during the construction process, leaving them susceptible to extreme soil compaction. Core aerate their lawn to decrease soil compaction and it will allow air, water and fertilizer to penetrate the roots.

The other thing that we mention to our customers is to sharpen your mower blades at the start of the season. A clean cut will encourage growth and prevent unnecessary damage to your grass. Also, as cited in the linked blog, it can not be stressed enough to raise your mower blades so your grass is cut at least three inches in length. This will help retain moisture and protect your grass roots in the summer.
